Here are all the details! Invite friends and family to attend with you!
This amazing crew of over 100 volunteers spent the weekend with us preparing both camps for the summer. So much was accomplished in such a short period of time, it was very overwhelming! We are truly blessed by the many volunteers who continue to support the mission of the camping program. We can't thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication! THANK YOU!
This crazy, awesome VOLUNTEER crew once again surpased all expectations! Over 70 volunteers came up throughout the weekend and did multiple projects to make both camps a better place. It's always amazing what they can accomplish in a weekend. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Looking forward to 2017!

Thank you to everyone who came out to make the day a huge success. We are truly blessed with dedicated volunteers (new and returning). Lots of work was accomplished! Thanks for your continued support of both Camp Stapleton and Camp Ozanam. We wouldn't be here today without volunteers like yourselves!
The 2015 Work Day was Saturday, May 2nd, and spectacular weather drew a record turn-out of volunteers. The day started at Camp Stapleton where several ambitious teams tackled clean-up chores in all the cabins. Mattresses were wiped down, windows washed, and winter’s dust balls and cobwebs were swept away. Camp Stapleton alum Ruth Lehy Kessel returned to camp for the first time since working as a counselor in 1975 and 1978. Now a member of St. John Neumann Parish in Canton, Ruth and her husband Dan recently joined their SVdP Conference and decided to come up for Work Day, along with 2 other members from their SVdP Conference.
“This place brings back so many wonderful memories,” said Ruth.
At Camp Ozanam, one of the main projects was ripping the shingles off the Potowatami/Penobscot cabin. Relatives of Tuffy Denome, a long-time Vincentian from the 1960s and 70s have been volunteering at camp for nearly 20 years in his honor, and they usually choose a big project to work on together.
Work Day 2016 is scheduled for May 7, 2016.
Put it on your calendar and plan to join us!
April 10-12, 2015
What an amazing weekend! We accomplished so much throughout the weekend it's hard to express our sincere gratitude to all who came out to help.
Lots of tree cut up, split and then moved to one of the two fire pits to be stacked for later use; Woods Cabin 3 had two layers of shingles removed, cleaned up and new shingles laid; beach was raked; batteries replaced throughout the entire camp; picnic tables painted, lifeguard tower painted along with other painting projects throughout; electrical work done in the Sandpiper Cabins; windows cleaned inside and out in mulltiple buildings; and there was more work done. The best part... that was all at the Girls Camp. The Boys Camp north field was cleared of down trees / brush; climbing wall has a layer of wood chips and ready for summer; the dining hall was scraped and the first coat of paint is on; brush cleared at pioneer; and the gym was throughly cleaned and mopped!
Our dedicated work crew consisted of current summer staff, alumni, campers, die hard families and friends; the Youth Ministry Programs of St. Jane Frances de Chantel, Christ the Good Shepherd and St. Cyprian; and young adults from Siena Heights and Madonna Universities.
Photos include what it looked like before everyone arrived. Friday's work crew working into dark and our long day on Saturday. Saturday we worked from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. when we stopped to celebrate Liturgy on camp. Fr. Bob Fisher joined us and participants of the weekend assisted and sang beautifully! Saturday night we ended with our annual "Spoons" competition. Congratulations to Alex who won! We also had a log rolling contest on Saturday. Congrats to the ladies of CGS whose team work brought them First Place! Sunday everyone helped move as much wood as we could, finished up projects, burnt more brush, etc. etc. Just an amazing weekend!
Thank you to everyone that came out and gave of their time! A special thank you to those who made a financial contribution to assist with the weekend projects. So grateful to all! So excited for summer to be here!
