My name is Jenny and I am the media specialist at Camps Connect. I wanted to let you know about our IMMEDIATE OPENINGS for summer camp counselors and activity specialists. We just started our staff training earlier this week, but we are still in need of 6 male counselors, 3 female counselors, and 2 activity specialists (we provide the training for lifeguards, ropes course instructors, archery instructors - it starts June 30th!).
Let me tell you why you want to work at Camps Connect. First, you'll make a real difference here. We believe that if you are reading this and God lays a desire on your heart to be a part of our team, that He has hand picked you to play a great role on our staff.
We're not talking about fame or fortune, but we're talking about you being the perfect person to reach the right child at the right time to reach them for Jesus. We're taking about God using you and your unique talents and personality at the most unexpected time, in the most unexpected way to be a light shining in the darkness for children who need to know God's love and His power in their life, so that when they leave camp and go home they can take that everlasting hope with them to face their daily struggles.
Second, If you are like me, then you know that sometimes you feel unqualified, unworthy, or have moments when you don't feel like God can use you because of your brokenness. But let me encourage you that God can do something amazing with that brokenness, and use it to reach those around you and mend your heart! Your past may have shaped you, but it doesn’t have to define you.
So if you're interested in working here, if you feel that tug on your heart, here are the details about our open positions!
COUNSELORS: Responsible for the leadership and guidance of eight to eighteen campers. Counselors work in pairs, assisting the campers in the planning and execution of their daily schedules. This person must be energetic and outgoing, capable of motivating children and working in a team setting. Minimum age: 18 yrs. (preferred at least 19 years old) Salary: $210 a week plus room and board
ACTIVITY SPECIALISTS: Responsible for planning and implementing a specialty area program. Thank you to everyone who came out to make the day a huge success. We are truly blessed with dedicated volunteers (new and returning). Lots of work was accomplished! Thanks for your continued support of both Camp Stapleton and Camp Ozanam. We wouldn't be here today without volunteers like yourselves!
The 2015 Work Day was Saturday, May 2nd, and spectacular weather drew a record turn-out of volunteers. The day started at Camp Stapleton where several ambitious teams tackled clean-up chores in all the cabins. Mattresses were wiped down, windows washed, and winter’s dust balls and cobwebs were swept away. Camp Stapleton alum Ruth Lehy Kessel returned to camp for the first time since working as a counselor in 1975 and 1978. Now a member of St. John Neumann Parish in Canton, Ruth and her husband Dan recently joined their SVdP Conference and decided to come up for Work Day, along with 2 other members from their SVdP Conference.
“This place brings back so many wonderful memories,” said Ruth.
At Camp Ozanam, one of the main projects was ripping the shingles off the Potowatami/Penobscot cabin. Relatives of Tuffy Denome, a long-time Vincentian from the 1960s and 70s have been volunteering at camp for nearly 20 years in his honor, and they usually choose a big project to work on together.
Work Day 2016 is scheduled for May 7, 2016.
Put it on your calendar and plan to join us!
